Sun Goddess
Jacket artwork for book of same name by Sheena McGrath (Blandford 1996). There was an ancient belief that the Sun was carried through the daytime sky in a horse-drawn chariot, and at nighttime was pulled through the sea (or underworld) by swans

Hazel
This illustrates the sacred well surrounded by hazels where the salmon of wisdom lives. The vibrance of the hazel is reflected in Mercury's winged caduceus, which was made from a hazel wand. The fire sacred to Brigid, Goddess of the Spring, lights up the boughs of catkins which are decorated with a ribbon as a prayer for healing.
Green Man
An ancient character, the spirit of the forests, to be found in many forms, from ancient texts to church carvings. Each tree from the Celtic tree alphabet is represented, and each butterfly of moth relies on one to the trees as a main food plant.
Mohawk
For a change using a native American source and pattern - this quote is part of a Mohawk thanksgiving.
